Great fun for the whole family to enjoy with two trails to explore and learn about the cultural significance of this taonga (treasure) to the people of Ngāti Rangiwewehi. Hamurana Springs was originally a tribal settlement named Te Kaikaitahuna with a history dating back to the mid 1300's.
Take your time to stroll both trails and stop for a picnic or complete a 45 minute to 1 hour round trip.
The onsite golf club has a selection of food and drinks available for purchase or feel free to bring along a picnic.

This place is stunning. Huge redwood trees tower over a clear, blue spring-water river full of ducks. Such a peaceful place for a walk. The walk takes 45-60mins but allow much longer than that to enjoy it.
Wow, have lived in Tauranga for 17 years, driven past the Springs dozens of times but never knew it existed. Had friends over from Melbourne and were looking for something we hadn’t done before. Hamurana Springs is now in to do list every time we have family and friends from out of town!!
Our visit to **Hamurana Springs** was absolutely amazing! The natural beauty of the place is breathtaking — crystal-clear water, lush greenery, and a peaceful atmosphere all around. The walking trails are well-maintained, and the whole experience feels so refreshing and calming. It’s a perfect spot for nature lovers and anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of New Zealand’s outdoors. Staff are friendly and accomodating😊
Lovely walk by the stream with tall California redwood trees. Awesome. Highly recommended.

Awesome hidden gem that is very beautiful
We had an awesome adventure in this forest. Lots of photo opportunities and seen the Redwoods lots of water fowl and even some fish. Found a bubbling water feature and a bubbling spring. There were some beautiful flowers as well. We loved the gentleman who checked us in he was very helpful on getting our journey started. You should definitely go here. It is mostly a dirt and redwood needles path we did see a couple with a stroller who seemed to have no problem whatsoever. Also there was a picnic table back about halfway if you wanted to bring a lunch. Absolutely amazing and very budget friendly.
