Unknowingly we booked on a Saturday when the NZ National Mountain Bike Championships were taking place on Coronet Peak. Dozens of young Bikers were queueing for the Gondola but we did not have to stand in line. Our experience was enhanced by this event. Views from the top are amazing. Bookme discount made it very good value! This gondola is a 25 min drive out of town to the Ski area. Don’t confuse it with the famous one in town with the picture postcard of Queenstown.
The best thing to do in Queenstown. Breath taking views. Mt cook at the top. Way better than the other gondola. Highly recommend.
My partner and I went to visit coronet peak and paid for the gondola pass. When we arrived there was a massive event happening. This was our first time visiting so we weren’t sure what the to do from the get go. We managed to get our passes for the gondola from the worker at the cafe. We then asked where we were supposed to go as the normal access for the gondolas was closed off, to which she replied she wasn’t sure and to find a worker outside, there was so many people there we couldn’t identify who was a worker. We did attempt to go back to the cafe to find out what to do but it was still the same lady we initially had spoken to and there was a line up and time was ticking along. Our first time going there with no signage we could see, especially among the large amount of people there, and no help for the general public. Especially with a massive event they had running was not helpful at all and we did ask a staff member which you would expect they would be able to help you. Very annoying as we had already paid for this. I had explained all of this in an email to them in which they could not offer a refund or another alternative no apologies either. Just money hungry and they dont seem to care about paying customers, highly disappointing the whole situation aswell as how it has been dealt with. Not good enough I say, unfortunate as I am sure the view from the top would be nice.
Disappointing because we booked the wrong location which was our fault but got no exchanges or refund so just lost our money

Amazing views but be careful booking
Really loved the chairlift to the top. But beware when booking. Advertised as 4 spaces available and we required 3. Went to book the the advertised price but only would let me book 1 at that price and the rest were about $10 more expensive. So a bit misleading. But the actual trip was really great. Very enjoyable trip on a stunning day with amazing. Could even see Mt Cook..first time we'd done it and lived. Just a 10 minute steepish walk to the summit which is well worth it. There is a handrail to help with the sheepish part. Worth the trip.
